በኢትዮጵያ ልናመጣው! ቀጥሎ, 2020 ቆይჳ, ከዚህ በኋላ, ቤተ ሙያሽ ኦሮም፣ ጄኔስስ ማሪን ሳቶ 2021-22, ነኝህ!
ሙያሽ "ኦሬ" (Ahad Ahadu) ጄኔስስ
በ2022 የጸባዩ, ሙፖ 31 እያ, ፕሬስኬይ (President) of the National Football Federation of Ethiopia, Yidnekachew Tessema, የመሠረተ (the office) from which he has been operating for nearly four decades. With his arrival and appointment to this position in 1983, under Emperor Haile Selassie I’s reign, football became one of the most popular sports among Ethiopians. Tessema has seen the growth and development of Ethiopian national soccer team Boom Bet ኦንላይን ካሲኖ since then.
Under his leadership as President from the early 80s up until today, Ethiopian National Football Team qualified for Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) three times; first time in 1982 under a different president but supported by him at that time, secondly in 2008 and more recently again in 2021. Tessema was present during Ethiopia’s qualification to the World Cups which held in Germany ’72 (though we didn’t participate), Mexico ’86, Italy ’90, France ’98, South Korea/Japan ’02, and Brazil/Argentina ’06.
During his tenure as President of ENFF since 1983, Yidnekachew Tessema has seen a tremendous growth and development of Football in Ethiopia. He witnessed the establishment of the Ethiopian Premier League (EPL), now known as the Ethiopian National Bank Championship. This is among other numerous developments and improvements that he’s been instrumental in.
ወ/እ 2020 ቆይჳ, ጄኔስሲ ኦሬ (The Game of Games) – The Rise and Success Story
It was during this year when the story of ‘በተ-ፕሮ’ ኩ/ጎ (the Ethiopian professional Football league which now holds an official license from CAF), began. As part of Yidnekachew Tessema’s plan to modernize and develop Ethiopian football, he established a new body called the Ethiopia Premier League Committee in 2018 with some help from FIFA and its local affiliate; ‘Ethiopian National Football Federation’. This helped him bring about what is now known as the ጄኔስሲ ዉ/አ (the Ethiopian league) which has brought football closer to home for many Ethiopians, thus making it a success story in itself.
As I am writing this article, the ጄኔስሲ (EPL) has been enjoying great popularity and is entertaining fans all over Ethiopia with thrilling matches between teams. However, for Yidnekachew Tessema’s dream to come true and get Ethiopian National Team qualify to major international competitions like FIFA World Cup was only realized under his tenure when the team won its first qualification against Seychelles back in 2008.
